Trend data for the past week was incomplete and not fully available, leaving us unable to accurately determine a new value. 

This week we are touching on Synchronization.

This refers to events happening in the virtual world at the same time as the real world. 

Important for both the metaverse as a whole and digital/virtual twins, synchronization ensures two important things. 

First, that when an action is performed in the real world (speech, movement, etc.) it is mirrored virtually. 

For teachers giving a virtual lecture or avatars playing a virtual game, every movement should be mirrored in as small a window as possible. 

Second, when data is fed from a physical machine to its digital twin the digital twin should instantly replicate everything. 

Should anything go wrong and failure need to be addressed, the digital twin will have to be as up to date as possible to find the cause of the issue. 

Twins Triumph: Education, Science, & Sustainability

Digital twin technology is spreading its roots and landing in more industries daily. 

Higher education institutions, CERN, and the energy sector have begun to invest their time, attention, and money into them and unlock their potential. 

Miami Dade College has taken a step to revolutionize events, learning, and tours. A hyper-realistic virtual twin of their campus will allow students to join classes, events, and take tours from wherever they may be.

The UN released 17 global sustainable development goals in 2015 to be met by 2030. The Journal of Petroleum Technology noted a study on how this technology can drive a cleaner future. 

By incorporating AI, machine learning, and the Internet of Things, data processing, simulation, and visualization can be improved to maximize investment value and minimize environmental impact.

Even CERN has begun to direct their attention to digital twins for high-energy physics experiments. This technology is driving the industry to allow for testing in risk free environments. 

Potentials of this technology are being rapidly developed and are becoming more adopted.

To be deemed a "metaverse" a platform should ideally possess all six of the following characteristics. 

It must be community-driven, be interoperable, have a fully functioning economy, be persistent, have spatiality, and be synchronous.

Community-Driven means the user base governs the space. All proposals and voting are done through means of a direct democracy. Any user with governance token(s) can make a proposal and vote.

Interoperability refers to the ability to seamlessly transfer assets between different platforms.

A fully functioning economy must be present where any user can create a business, sell goods/services, and sell them to others.

Persistence means that even when a user isn't logged on the space still exists and runs. It is accessible at any time from anywhere with adequate internet connection.

Spatiality refers to the ability of a user to interact with everything in the space. Objects can be picked up, felt, interacted with, and so on.

Synchronous means all actions take place in real time. The actions one user performs via their device are mirrored in real time, everything they say and do is replicated in as small a time window possible.
