Revolutionizing the Assembly Line

How BMW use Industrial Metaverse to reduce costs of the production process

What’s up, MetaverseBay here.

We share what newcomers should know, what experts can be updated on, and what others might find interesting.

Let’s get down to it.

Every step gets you closer and more up to date!

This week brings us Digital Twins

If you’ve every thought of your office catching fire so you can skip work Monday you’re in luck!

*For legal purposes that’s a joke

We’ll be taking a deeper dive into the industrial metaverse.

From insanely increased efficiency to millions of dollars saved and accidents nearly eliminated, we can expect great things!

A recent addition to our newsletter is our Metaverse Liveliness Index.

It gives us an idea of public interest in the metaverse and how relevant it is at this moment in time.

In the coming weeks we will post an article explaining the index in depth.

This week we saw a dip in the score by 1 point.

We saw an overall decrease across all of our metrics except for a positive average change in the top metaverse related tokens.

Don’t worry, there are highs and lows to the market and times always change.

We remain optimistic.

This week brings us Internet of Things (IoT).

Put simply these are devices connected to the internet which connect to and exchange information with other’s on the cloud.

This allows for real-time improvement, self-learning, and easier design.

Devices such as thermostats and robot vacuums are perfect examples. They connect to the internet and can be controlled through your phone.

As their use continues data is collected and processed by the device or the cloud to allow for self-improvement or human led improvement.

In our MMS call we discussed how Internet-connected devices can upload in real-time to simulations for sandboxed testing in a risk-free environment.

Industrial Hiccups In the Virtual World

As we all know business comes down to profit and a key way of increasing it is by cutting costs.

The Industrial Metaverse is here to not only do that, but increase inclusion, safety, and cut back on those pesky wait times.

It’s magic is that it allows for 3D virtual models to be quickly and easily rendered then testable from all angles.

Want to change the layout of an entire factory or every just swap two machines to see if efficiency improves?

Boom. A few keystrokes and its done.

Add a little testing and you can see any improvement or worsening in cost and time.

Aside from redesign, a complete ground up construction can be done virtually before a single shovel of dirt is moved in the real world.

Let’s imagine you’re an engineer tasked with optimizing a production line for an electric car company historically notorious for long wait times.

How would you go about finding a solution?

Design, running numbers on paper, and final implementation take too much time and money.

With the Industrial Metaverse countless simulations from all angles can be executed, finding the optimal layout, alterations, and design before decisions are made.

It doesn’t matter if you are redesigning a standing factory or optimizing the layout of a new one set to be built.

Every and any idea can be tested, tried, and true before a single car rolls off the line.

Aside from time and money, our speakers mentioned other incredibly important ones. Diversity and safety.

The ability to design these spaces virtually means the best and brightest can work from anywhere with internet. They aren’t bound to being geographically close to the office.

Workplace incidents can also be significantly reduced.

If there is a safety issue various solutions can be tried to find the best or emergency situations can be practiced so in the event they do occur we will know what actions to take.

Companies such as BMW have shared their steps in the space.

But our speakers think other companies are also making great strides. Sometimes, those who are silent are making the biggest moves.

What do you think of this technology?

Who might it benefit most and how?

Beyond industrial purposes digital replication can revolutionize real estate.

While these technically aren’t digital twins since you aren’t feeding data into them for replication in the real world, they are still valuable.

Imagine a real estate agent creating a replica of a home you want to buy that is on the other side of the country.

You can walk around the home, get a feel for the space, and even redecorate with your own furniture.

Now truly getting a feel for the space is easier than ever!

Replication of spaces in the metaverse can also benefit students of all ages.

Learning in a virtual classroom is now 3D, much better than video streaming during the COVID pandemic!

Medical students can practice in zero-risk environments, we can recreate historical events for visual aide, or anything else you can imagine!

Within the metaverse we will be able to not only create spaces for industrial benefit but ones that will help everyone, regardless of age or status.

Review of the Week

Your feedback matters!

We’ve decided to do away with the Explain Like I’m Five for now and simplify explanations a bit overall.

We have also added a visual aide so the topic can be grasped more easily.

We appreciate you joining us on this journey!

Thank you for reading!

See you next week!
