Making Computers Do the Heavy Lifting

Can AI powered NPCs do the boring stuff?

What’s up, MetaverseBay here.

We share what newcomers should know, what experts can be updated on, and what others might find interesting.

Let’s get down to it.

Keep it up!

This week brings us AI and the Metaverse

You’ll never be on hold with customer service again, AI is here to save the day!

AI will be the foundation of the metaverse. From customer service to recreations of star sports players, engagement and service will take off.

Major steps are being taken by corporations to create AI assistants and characters. Their contributions bring endless possibilities but a new world of threats.

It’s coming, is there enough time to figure out how to keep ourselves and our data safe?

A recent addition to our newsletter is our Metaverse Liveliness Index.

It gives us an idea of public interest in the metaverse and how relevant it is at this moment in time.

In the coming weeks we will post an article explaining the index in depth.

This week we saw a dip in the score by 2 points.

We saw a decrease in each component this week from ETFs to trends.

No need to fret, there are highs and lows to the market and times always change.

We remain optimistic.

This week brings us Machine Learning.

This is a branch of AI and Computer Science which aims to develop algorithms to allow machines to “learn” the way humans do, allowing for self-improvement.

In the metaverse we will see and interact with many AI-powered NPCs. They may take the form of virtual shop assistants or other players.

Their programming will allow them to learn from interactions and implement new behaviours in the future without the need for humans to physically change their coding or data.

Explain Like I’m Five:

Machine Learning is part of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science.

It involves creating algorithms that allow computers to learn and improve on their own.

For example:
We want a computer to recognise different animals in pictures, rather than tell it how to do it, we show it pictures, and it learns to itself.

In the future, you might encounter AI-powered characters or virtual assistants in video games or virtual reality.

These characters can learn from your interactions with them and adapt their behaviour based on that learning.

This means they can get better at their tasks without humans needing to change their code or data manually.
