Europe is YEARS Behind in Digital Twins Field

Digital Twins Saving Maldives

What’s up, MetaverseBay here.

We share what newcomers should know, what experts can be updated on, and what others might find interesting.

Let’s see what the hype is about.

2%! That’s one small step for man….

This week will be about Digital Twins.

Here’s the agenda:
• Digital Twins and data collection
• Metaverse Architecture Design award winners share insights
• Saving the Maldives with digital twins
• Evil Twins?!
• Twin Cities,
• Early Adopters vs FOMO

Shocker…. It’s Digital Twins.

The concept emerged in the 1970’s during the Apollo 13 mission when an oxygen tank explosion damaged the main engine.

NASA converted a physical model of the spacecraft to digital to find a solution and land it safely in the Indian Ocean.

By definition, a digital twin is a persistent virtual replica of a physical person, place, or thing. They have many use cases we’ll dive into later ⬇️

What do they look like?
They can be a virtual replica of a tourism hotspot (i.e. the Burj Khalifa), a factory for testing layouts, and much more.

Digital twins have tremendous commercial and industrial potential.

Explain Like I’m Five:

Digital twins are like special computer copies of real things. They were first used by NASA when they had a problem with a spaceship called Apollo 13.

NASA made a virtual copy of the spaceship on a computer to find a solution and bring the astronauts back safely.

Digital twins can also be made for famous buildings or factories. They help people learn and plan without actually being there. Digital twins are really helpful and can be used in many different ways.

Twin Tech Reshapes Real Estate

From duplicate factories to real estate, digital twins are a virtual copy of anything physical.

Users can collect data and even run tests in a controlled environment.

But how would this look?

Picture this, you own an apartment complex and need to lower the carbon footprint and have three options.

You can perform calculations on paper to estimate the benefit of each or use a digital twin to see it in actually unfold.

On a larger scale entire cities can employ the technology to determine the payoff of different initiatives.

“Dubai is the center of future trends”.

Our expert and his company are creating a digital twin of Dubai to revolutionize real estate in the city. Consumers will get a more personalized experience with the ability to view floor plans and redecorate virtually.

More details in this podcast.

Explain Like I Am Five:

Digital twins are pretend versions of real things that we use on computers.

They help us learn and try out ideas without actually doing them. For example, if you have a big building and want to make it better, you can use a digital twin to see what changes would be good.

It's like playing with ideas on the computer before doing them for real. Even whole cities can use digital twins to decide what things will work best for them.

Our take
Digital twins are fundamental to the metaverse as they provide practical use cases with expected returns on investment.

Architecture of the Future

What do you get when you mix digital twins with imagination? 🤔

Hyper-realistic and futuristic architectural creations.

Digital twins can also work in reverse, where a design is tested digitally, then built in the real world once optimized.

Different building sizes, designs, heating/cooling, etc. can all be tested and perfected digitally before a single shovel of dirt is dug for the foundation.

“After seeing an immersive experience people will demand that in real life”.

Users may fall in love with the metaverse’s architectural style and want it in the real world.

Let’s just hope they won’t ask for a Death Star 😂

What does this mean for the future?

Cooler designs, more efficient buildings, lower CO2 footprints, and higher ROIs for developers.

Digital twins offer opportunity to test many aspects of building in a high-end simulation to make the best decisions.

Award winning metaverse architects spoke on the potential and future of digital twins, more insights available here.

Explain Like I’m Five:

Digital twins are like magical tools that help architects and designers create super cool and futuristic buildings. They use computers and imagination to make virtual versions of buildings before they're built for real.

It's like playing and testing ideas on the computer first to make sure everything is perfect.

With digital twins, we can make buildings that look awesome and are a lot of fun! People might love these virtual designs so much that they want them in real life!

Our take
Builders of “The Line” can definitely benefit from digital twins…

Testing. Testing. Twins and Maldives.

Digital twins might make buildings more efficient and save millions of dollars, but can they preserve “current day” for the future generations?

A builder on our call shared how GPS data is being combined with satellite imagery to create a digital twin of the Maldives.

“Every shade of coral, sand, and the water can be replicated.”

The sandbox testing environment offers infinite chances to test and find the best solution at any time, from anywhere.

“When you live in the Maldives and 80% of your island will be underwater by 2050, climate change is a real issue”, he stated.

The project will allow users to experience potential threats (i.e. oil spills, rising sea levels) in real-time to find solutions.

Monetization from the twin and all findings go towards preservation of the Maldives to protect them from the threat of climate change.

Is climate change fake? Let us know in the comments here.

Explain Like I’m Five:

Digital twins are like special tools that help us make buildings better and save money.

In the Maldives, they use a digital twin to protect the islands. They make a pretend version of the islands on the computer and test things to keep them safe.

They can see problems and find ways to fix them. The money they make from the digital twin helps to protect the real islands from those problems.

Our take
Thanks to digital twins, I will finally be able to afford vacation to the Maldives…
