Metaverse Fundamentals this week feature two important topics:
Blockchains and Web3.
Web1, Web2, Web3, they aren’t all “just the internet”.
Blockchains. What they are and why they’re important.
This week brings us “Interoperability".
It refers to the ability of independent blockchains or metaverse platforms to be able to communicate with each other.
This allows for assets and data to be seamlessly transferred between them.
Many platforms and blockchains are looking to achieve this in a number of ways.
One major project is Ready Player Me. It aims to allow users to create a single avatar which can be used across many platforms. Avatars aren’t directly owned like an NFT, but they can be used freely.
Interoperability is more than a single, cross-platform avatar, it includes NFTs as well.
Other goals include creating wearable NFTs and other digital goods users can transfer between heterogeneous platforms.
Explain Like I’m Five:
"Interoperability" means that different digital spaces, like video games or websites, can communicate with each other.
For instance, it's like using a single character in various games, which is a project Ready Player Me is working on.
Another example could be taking a digital trophy you won in one game and displaying it in a completely different game.
Interoperability isn't just about characters, it includes special digital items called NFTs too, that could be clothes, pets, or trophies.
The aim is to allow these digital objects and characters to move smoothly between different digital environments.
Simply put, it's about making your digital belongings useful and accessible across various platforms.
AI & Architecture
When creating metaverse platforms one of the most time-consuming elements is architecture and design.
AI is showing us how it can cut down the design and creation process from days or weeks to mere hours.
Many AI tools can instantly generate not only exterior building designs but floor plans as well. From a brief written description or basic sketch.
Using these tools can also allow for various iterations to be created allowing for both quality and quantity to be captured in one.
A guest in our discussion stressed the constant lack of time.
Tools help streamline the processes and can generate ideas or entire projects based off simple inputs.
This delivers quality worlds in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Some favorites to accomplish tasks are Leonardo AI, Vizcom AI, and Architectures AI.
Some features are free, others paid, but feel free to try your hand with their generative abilities.

You know how you build a castle with Lego?
Some smart computers, called AI, can build virtual places, like video games, super quickly.
They can make many different buildings from a small drawing or a short story.
These computer tools, like Leonardo AI, Vizcom AI, and Architectures AI, help people build big things really fast, just like magic Lego blocks.
They have some parts for free and others cost money. That's how they help us create fun virtual places quickly.
Our Take
Time is money. These tools save a tremendous amount of each and help projects avoid drowning in costs.
AI & Metaverse Adoption
Aside from helping builders create platforms for users, AI can help boost user adoption rates too.
Expedited building of platforms will bring the product to users more quickly, but AI can deliver experiences within the app as well, cutting down time to market.
Tools can be used to allow for instant translation. Whether you speak English, Chinese, Spanish, or any other language, everyone can communicate.
“People need to be made aware of it”, stressed one speaker.
Look at ChatGPT, mass awareness led to mass adoption. Once people stop fearing and start using the metaverse we will see large scale use and reuse.
AI tools are also great for storytelling and idea generation.
Our discussion touched on how designers and creators can use tools to generate ideas on what to make next.
AI is an enabler of ideas but not a substitute for creators.

AI is like computer magic that helps people build digital worlds quicker.
This means new games or apps are ready faster.
AI can also translate languages so everyone can understand each other, just like in cartoons.
Once people understand AI, they will use it more.
AI also helps grown-ups brainstorm new ideas, but it still needs people to guide it, like how your toys need you to play.
Our Take
Inclusion drives adoption. By having everyone be able to communicate and be together, usage tremendously increases.
Let’s hope it does better than Google can…
3 Ways AI Will Impact Adoption
Think of three ways AI can impact the metaverse if you’ve read this far you should already have one or two ideas.
Our final topic of discussion had our experts weigh in on this.
Architecture, content creation, and inclusion came out as the top answers.
“I think there’s a lot that can be done that hasn’t been done yet”, stated a guest in our discussion.
AI tools are a power supplemental tool for building the metaverse but are no substitute for human creators.
Another guest gave their input on the impact of AI generated content saying, “I think with AI there’s going to be a lot of experiences that come out. It will come down to quality vs quantity.”
In the end only the best will survive.
